AI in B2B Finance & Payment Processing

Rethinking "Artificial Intelligence" for Real-World Financial Services Impact

Everyone's talking about AI in B2B finance and payment processing these days. Most of the conversation, though, gets lost in buzzwords that sound impressive but don't connect to what we actually deal with every day—underwriting decisions, keeping sales consistent, staying compliant, managing partner relationships, and figuring out how to grow a team without things falling apart.

I help manage a financial services company with dozens of employees and hundreds of B2B lending, ISO, and payment processing partners across the country. Over the past three years, I've spent thousands of hours integrating AI directly into how we actually work. Not experiments or proof-of-concepts—real systems that real people use every single day with real clients.

After building, testing, breaking, and rebuilding these systems inside a live financial services operation, one thing has become crystal clear:

AI only creates real leverage when it's woven into your actual workflows and treated like infrastructure, not a shiny new toy.

And here's something that surprised me—it's also become an incredible teacher, mentor, and honestly, something of a thinking partner. If you're someone who's always looking to learn (like me), some of what I share below might change how you approach problems.

🤝 AI as an Intelligent Assistant

I like to flip the letters around and think of AI as an "Intelligent Assistant."

In B2B lending and payment processing, we lean on specialists constantly—closers, underwriters, analysts, Salesforce experts, marketing people, compliance professionals, operations staff. Traditionally, solving a problem meant hunting down the right person, waiting until they were free, or just accepting that bottlenecks are part of life.

That's changed.

With the right AI tools, I can work with an Intelligent Assistant in real time on things that used to require multiple people or days of back-and-forth:

  • Refining sales scripts for funding products and payment processing
  • Troubleshooting Salesforce workflows and automations (even Apex logic)
  • Reviewing ISO agreements and drafting partner communications

This isn't about replacing expertise. It's about being able to access it instantly, whenever you need it.

When you approach AI the way you'd approach a strong team member—giving it context, offering feedback, collaborating, setting clear expectations—it starts to become an extension of your organization. Over time, that Intelligent Assistant begins to feel like a cross-functional financial services professional who actually understands your products, your partners, and how things get done around here.

🔁 AI as Automated Interactions

Another way to think about AI that's been valuable for us: Automated Interactions. As a business owner, you decide what interactions clients will have next with your company and it's services, either online or on the phone, or even over SMS / RCS chat, all based off their profile and previous history with your company.

As business owners and operators, we're already designing structured experiences. We script sales conversations, build qualification flows, create underwriting checklists, put together onboarding processes for merchants, ISOs, and new sales reps. We've been doing this for years.

AI lets you take those interactions and automate them at scale—without losing the professionalism, the tone, or the control.

Building a voice agent for a B2B funding or payment processing company isn't fundamentally different from scripting how your best sales rep talks to a merchant. The difference is that now the interaction can:

  • Run around the clock without fatigue
  • Capture data consistently every single time
  • Reinforce compliance language on every call

The same logic applies to AI-powered qualification flows on your website, automated partner intake for ISOs, and voice agents that pre-qualify merchants before they ever reach a live person.

You're not replacing your sales team or underwriters. You're scaling your best people across every interaction.

🧠 What We've Actually Built

By combining Intelligent Assistants with Automated Interactions, my team and I have built AI-enabled systems specifically for financial services. These act like always-on digital team members supporting sales, operations, and partner management.

In practice, that includes:

  • Salesforce CRM automations that support complex funding pipelines
  • Web applications that walk merchants through qualification step by step
  • Voice agents trained on lending products, payback structures, and processing terminology
  • Salesforce-based HTML emails—robust, full-featured designs that plug directly into our client and employee pipelines with tailored experiences for specific touchpoints
  • Video content and scripts—whether it's sales training, partner onboarding, or marketing assets, AI has helped us move from concept to finished product much faster

The result across all of this? Cleaner data, more consistent conversations, fewer handoffs—without losing the human side of the business.

⚙️ The AI Tools We Actually Use

When partners ask what tools I recommend, I keep it practical.

Anthropic's Claude – We rely on this heavily for building and troubleshooting Salesforce automations, developing custom web applications tied to funding workflows, and drafting HTML emails.

OpenAI – We use this across the organization for collaboration, specialized GPTs focused on funding operations and partner communications, and image generation for branding, landing pages, and marketing materials.

ElevenLabs – This has been a game changer for voice. We've built natural-sounding voice agents for merchant intake, funding pre-qualification, payment processing education, and sales rep onboarding.

Adobe's Suite – Invaluable for video work. They've woven AI throughout their products in ways that genuinely speed up the creative process, from scripting to editing to final output.

When you integrate these tools into CRM-driven workflows, you can deliver enterprise-grade experiences that feel polished, consistent, and trustworthy—even as a growing company.

🎧 Experience It Yourself

These aren't demos. They're working systems we use in production every day.

🚀 Why This Matters

AI isn't about replacing people in B2B finance or payment processing.

It's about speeding up execution without cutting corners. It's about reducing friction in sales, onboarding, and partner intake. It's about creating consistent, professional experiences across every channel—whether someone's talking to a voice agent at 2am or filling out a qualification form on your website.

When you implement it thoughtfully, AI gives your team leverage—not noise—and lets your best people focus on judgment, relationships, and growth instead of repetition.
